Tema Educational Programme

 

 

The Education and Research Department of the Union organized a day’s educational programme for some Tema Local Union Executive of the Union.

The well attended programme saw Union members from ten institutions attending. These institutions are listed below;

Maersk Line
Flour Mills
Dangote Cement
Pioneer Food Cannery
Silver Star Auto Limited
Tema Oil Refinery
Sentuo Steel Limited
Mivisa West Africa
Nestle Ghana
United Fabrication
Polykraft Ghana

The main objective of the training programme was to bring information to some Local Union Executives of the Union.

The training especially sorted to educate newly elected executives on how to maintain an excellent relationship with
other executives, union members and management.

Bro. Kofi Davoh who facilitated the training walked participants through the following topics ;

Rights and Duties of the employer and the employee
Relationships at the work place
Legal basis for a Management/Union relationship
Types of Relationships
Separate People from problem
Focus On Interests, Not Positions
Critical Areas In The Relationships
Managing the Relationship

At the end of the training, participants expressed their appreciation to the leadership of the Union for organising the programme, but insisted that more programmes of such nature should be organised to bring the Secretariat closer to the members.

The Head of Industrial Relations at the Secretariat assured the members that many more programmes would be organised before the end of the year
