The National Women’s Committee (NWC) of UNICOF successfully organised a two-day training program on “Ethics and Leadership for Women Leaders in Banking Institutions”.The event took place from March 11-12, 2025, at the Chartered Institute of Bankers,Ghana Auditorium, bringing together 31 women bankers from partner financial institutions including GCB Bank Plc, ARB Apex Bank Plc, Consolidated Bank Ghana, Manya Krobo Rural Bank, Stanbic Bank, and First Bank Ghana.
Building Ethical Leadership in Banking
The training, designed to empower women leaders in the banking sector, focused on ethical leadership, organisational culture, and professional integrity. The sessions were led by seasoned Chartered Accountants from the Chartered Institute of Bankers,Ghana,providing valuable insights on the ethical foundation of leadership.
Key Highlights:
Day 1:Mr. Robert Dzato (ACIB), CEO of the Chartered Institute of Banking, delivered a presentation on Ethics and Integrity, touching on trust in finance, ethical dilemmas,and professional codes of conduct.
Day 2: A session on Leadership and Empowerment was delivered in two parts: Effective Leadership Skills and Women in Leadership, covering authenticity, confidence,credibility,work-life balance,and self-care.

The training was graced by UNICOF’s General Secretary, Brother Euclid Kofi Ohene-Obeng,and Deputy General Secretary,Brother Godfred Agbevanu, who reaffirmed the Union’s commitment to women’s professional growth.

Impact & Conclusion
Through interactive discussions and case studies, participants explored real-world ethical challenges and leadership strategies. The initiative successfully revived,inspired,and empowered women leaders to excel in their roles and drive positive change in their institutions.
