The Employees’ Union of GCB Bank PLC successfully held its 2nd Quadrennial Delegates Conference from the 24th to 25th October, 2025 at the Raybow Hotel, Takoradi on the theme “Customer Centricity, Digital Transformation, People and Culture – The Role of Employees’ Union”.
The main agenda was to elect new officers to steer the affairs of the Union for the next four (4) years. The two-day event brought together 131 delegates and invited guests from across the country.
The first day saw the formation and sittings of the committees, presentation of the committees reports as well as presentation of the financial and activity reports and an education program led by Brother Euclid Kofi – Ohene Obeng (General Secretary) of UNICOF.
The second day, which marked the formal opening of the conference, began with a prayer. We had the Managing Director, Mr. Farihan Alhassan give a brief speech followed by a questions and answers session. The General Secretary also gave a speech touching on the importance of treating customers well all the while stressing on the need for employees to be first treated with fairness, respect and recognition which will emanate to a better customer experience.
We later had solidarity messages from the Takoradi Area Manager, the Chairman of the PMSU and the Ladies Association.
Following a lunch break, elections were held for the new executives. The newly elected Chairman delivered an inspiring acceptance speech, reaffirming his and the team’s commitment to taking Unionism to the next level. Management’s cooperation was solicited in helping them carry out their duties effectively.
The eagerness of these new members in the union showed that the Trade Union spirit still lives and UNICOF will continue to make its presence felt and keep the fire of unionism burning. The two – days conference was indeed a successful one.
