The Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) Local Union of UNICOF successfully held its 2nd National Executive Council (NEC) meeting from 28th –30th August 2025 at the Crystal Palm Hotels, Tesano. The three-day event brought together eighty-three (83) participants, including the General and Deputy General Secretaries of UNICOF, Executive Committee members, Regional Council members, Relationship Officers, secretarial staff, and invited guests.
Programme Highlights
The meeting was designed to review the activities of the Union, assess committee work, and plan for the remainder of the year. Guided by a clear programme, members engaged in meaningful deliberations that set the tone for future strategies and strengthened solidarity.
Key Address by Guests
The NEC was privileged to receive words of encouragement and insight from prominent figures. Among them were Brother Euclid Kofi Ohene-Obeng, General Secretary of UNICOF; labour expert Brother Austin Gamey of Gamey & Gamey; Dr. Naomi Wolali Kwetey, Managing Director of CBG; Sister Sheila Azuntaba, Deputy Managing Director; and Sister Esi Mbirba Wilson, People & Transformation Director of CBG. Their participation underscored the collaborative spirit between union leadership and management.
Committee Reports and Strategic Planning
Committees presented detailed reports on their work during the review period. Members actively engaged by asking questions, providing feedback, and making recommendations to guide future activities. Discussions were open, transparent, and productive, helping to strengthen trust and accountability within the Union.
Union’s Finances
The finance committee presented a comprehensive review of the Union’s financial standing and introduced the 2025/26 budget. After careful consideration, members approved the budget with some modifications to better align with the Union’s priorities.
Advancing Staff Welfare
One of the most significant achievements of the meeting was the unanimous approval of a Union-led loan scheme aimed at supporting members’ financial needs. Modalities for the scheme were carefully discussed, and measures were put in place for swift implementation. This initiative demonstrates the Union’s continued commitment to improving the welfare of its members.
Solidarity and Commitment
The meeting also reinforced the importance of solidarity and constructive engagement. With management pledging support and labour leaders offering guidance, the NEC concluded with renewed energy to pursue upcoming collective bargaining negotiations and other union programmes.

The 2nd NEC meeting of the CBG Union of UNICOF was a success, equipping members with a clear plan for the year ahead. The Union remains steadfast in its mission to protect the interests of workers, enhance welfare, and foster unity.
